Why CBD?
1. THE SCIENCE BEHIND CBD
CANNABIDIOL
CBD, a shortened term for cannabidiol, is a non-psychoactive compound found within the cannabis sativa plant species. CBD is only one of 113 cannabinoids that exist within the plant and is best known for its range of medicinal and therapeutic benefits.
HOW IT WORKS
The magic of CBD lies fully in its relationship with the endocannabinoid system (often referred to as the ECS). The ECS is a collection of cell receptors located throughout the body- mainly in the brain and central nervous system, but also in the organs and connective tissues. The main task of the ECS is regulating homeostasis throughout the body, i.e. bringing the body to optimal balance. Because of the many areas in which the ECS receptors are located (and their ability to maintain homeostasis) the ECS is considered one of the most important systems in the body in regards to maintaining health.
THE BENEFITS

CBD VS THC
Although both hemp and marijuana fall under the category of cannabis sativa, the two plants are actually very different! Unlike marijuana, hemp lacks the psychoactive effect that gives users the traditional “high” feeling. This high is brought about by the presence of THC (tetrahydrocannabinoid), a cannabinoid which is virtually non-existent in hemp plants. In fact, CBD can actually counter these “too high” feelings and acts as an anti-psychoactive, reducing the effects of the THC.1
Fun fact: THC binds primarily to CB1 receptors. Because CBD binds to both CB1 and CB2 receptors, they block THC from binding to CB1 receptors and prevent your body from absorbing more THC.
THE RIGHT AMOUNT
How much CBD your body will need varies from person to person and ailment to ailment. Because each body is unique there is no standard dose, but we highly suggest starting small and working your way up until an optimal dose is reached.
All of our products are conveniently measured in mg to ensure that the proper dose is easily found and repeated. We typically suggest the following guidelines:
Hemp Stix
(half a stix; 37.5 mg)
Vape Pen
(one 5-second draw as needed)
Honey Stix
(one full tube; approx. 15 mg)
